Owning “Ambivalence” is like holding two truths in your hands at once. This piece invites the collector to linger in the space between certainty and hesitations, where beauty lives in tension.
It’s not about choosing a side – it’s about appreciating the complexity of feeling both. The work becomes a mirror: sometimes it reflects longing, other times restraint, always reminding you of the layered nature of being.
Décor Tips:
-place “Ambivalence” in an entryway or living room to spark conversation – draw visitors to it’s quiet contradiction
-pair with neutral, textured décor (linen, stone, wood) to let the artwork’s complexity resonate.
-for a bolder look, contrast it with sleek metallics or deep jewel tones that echo the duality within the piece.
-pair with sculptural lighting or bespoke furnishings that echo it’s layered duality
Artist’s note:
Ambivalence was painted after a dizzy and long workday where even working couldn’t distract me from the mess I created for myself.
It’s one of my favorite words…phonetically speaking.
I painted this piece of out my own ambivalence about the past year and how my actions have turned me in the eyes of others.
I wrestle with the guilt and then I’m ok with being…”bad”, “misunderstood”, or even a “b”
